I think we can all agree costumes that require effort, intelligence and some technical know-how are more interesting than the average ‘sexy nurse’ costume you pick-up at the nearest pop-up shop.

For all you nerds out there, here are some of the coolest technically advanced DIY Halloween costumes. You won’t find fish-nets or crop tops here, mostly just microcontrollers and Raspberry Pi’s.

Iron Man Repulsor Beam

You’ll definitely see more than a few Iron Man costumes this Halloween, but you’re sure to make Tony Stark proud by sporting one of these Repulsor Beams. Created by a 3-D printer and controlled by muscle movement, you can’t get much cooler than this.

Electronic Demon

If you’re looking for something a bit more frightening, you may want to consider satan’s right hand man, the electronic demon. With glowing yellow eyes,  a see-through torso and a voice-changer, this costume is going to freak some people out.

The technology required is substantial, you may feel like a walking computer, but it would be totally worth it.

LED Fairy Wings

Here’s a fun one for the girls. These LED wings won’t require as much time or work and are great for the last minute scrambler. You simply buy a LED circuit and hot glue them to a pair of costume wings, and away you go!
